Leeds photo essay: Club makes a splash with model behaviour

EVERY weekend, members of the Leeds and Bradford Model Boat Club meet at Yeadon Tarn.

Taking their prized model boats out on to the water, members enjoy a catch up with friends whilst soaking up the picturesque views.

It’s a tradition that has been going for more than 100 years.

The group was originally set up in 1890 and now boasts more than 70 members.

It aims to promote the art of model boat design and construction, as well as hosting and taking part in monthly competitions.

Members meet every Sunday and Wednesday mornings from 9am to 12pm throughout the year.

When they’re not out by the water, you can usually find them tucking into bacon butties in the new clubhouse.

New members are welcome – including junior members.
