Leeds people urged to dig deep in '˜Just One Day' appeal

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, councillor Judith Chapman, is calling on people in Leeds to support the event on Friday, April 1, with proceeds raised going to her chosen charity – Specialist Autism Services.

There are no rules as to how people can raise money for ‘Just One Day’. Ideas range from fancy dress, sponsored events, face painting, joke and spelling competitions and even a fire walk.

Coun Judith Chapman said: “We are really looking forward to the second annual ‘Just One Day’ appeal.

“Last year there was a brilliant response from so many Leeds residents, businesses, groups, schools and organisations to ‘Just One Day’, and we are hoping for another fantastic 24 hours of fun and colourful fundraising events.

“There is still time to get involved and the great news is that you can decide how to raise money, whether it is by a cake sale, face painting or even deciding to turn up at work in your pyjamas!

“Please let us know what you doing, and hopefully we might be able to pop down in person and offer our thanks for all of your help.”

On the day, the Lord Mayor will visit various fundraising events, and will start by putting the final piece of Lego in the Leeds crest fundraiser at the Civic Hall at around 1pm.

It will be followed by a fire walk at Millennium Square, with some places still available.
