Leeds nostalgia: Leeds lads pick litter for Lent in 1987

This week in 1987, four Leeds lads with a '˜have a go' attitude decided to do their bit for the city's clean up campaign and raise money for charity at the same time.

The four were Christopher Harrison, 11, Colin Simpson, 11, Paul Stanhope, 11 and Damien McClelland, 10 (the first two are pictured here but the full picture is available to view on our website).

According to the report in the YEP at the time, the foursome spent their break times cleaning litter from the grounds of their school all through Lent.

They attended St Peter’s C of E Middle School in Mabgate.

They were being sponsored for their work, with all the money going to Wheatfields Hospice.

If you know any of the four, please get in touch.
