Leeds nostalgia: Briggate in the 1960s

It's fifty or so years ago now since we took these photographs and the fashions, car designs and haircuts have changed considerably.

Quite a few men and women were still wearing distinguished looking hats for example and the clothing colour palette was limited to neutral hues. Headscarves and overcoats fill these pictures with a stylish formality that has long since disappeared.

Young people had an image that very closely matched their parents and they seemed less visible than they are today.

At the risk of stating the obvious nobody can be seen carrying or looking at a mobile phone. This was decades before the advent of personal technology.
