A Leeds mum-of-two’s parenting blog has reached the finals of a prestigious competition celebrating the UK’s best bloggers.

Vicki Psarias’s Honest Mum blog - which attracts 80,000 visits every month - has reached the finals of the Mum and Dad (MAD) Blog Awards, which celebrate the UK’s thriving parent blogging community.

More than 200,000 nominations were submitted into the awards this year, with just 75 blogs reaching the finals.

Vicki, who lives in Collingham with husband Peter and sons Oliver, five, and Alexander, two, is one of six finalists in the ‘food’ category as her blog often shares tasty recipes - some courtesy of her dad, George Psarias, who owns the Olive Tree Greek Restaurant group.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have reached the finals. I started writing a blog in 2010 and the last three years have seen blogging become by full-time job. My dad, George, often shares recipes on my blog and I showcase my own with my husband photographing. We’re a little team!”.

Vicki will find out if her blog is a winner in September, at a red carpet ceremony in London.

Sally Whittle, founder of the MAD Blog Awards, which is now in its sixth year, said: “The MAD Blog Awards celebrate the thousands of parents up and down the country who have discovered blogging as a way to capture family memories and make new friends. The standard of entries this year was incredible, and we’re so impressed all the finalists’ blogs.”
