Leeds Make Choir ends centenary year with festive concert

LEEDS Male Voice Choir has been entertaining audiences for a century '“ and the final concert of the year will take place at Leeds Cathedral on Saturday 10 December.

The concert will feature a host of festive music including Away in a Manger, We Need a Little Christmas, White Christmas and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

Alongside this popular annual event, an exhibition of the choir’s history has just opened in Leeds City Museum to round off their centenary celebrations.

Leeds Male Voice Choir was founded in 1916 by Thomas Crossland, who was the organist and choirmaster at Stourton Wesleyan Chapel. The choir took its name from Broom Pit in Middleton, Leeds and was known for a time as the Broom Excelsior Male Voice.
