Leeds lorry driver found dead at fruit company as health and safety investigation launched

A health and safety investigation has been launched after the death of a lorry driver at a fruit supply company in Worcestershire.

Mark Buttery, who is believed to be from Leeds, died on Tuesday, November 19 at the Primafruit facility in Evesham, Worcestershire.

West Mercia Police were called at 7.45am to a report of a man's body being found at the business, which supplies fruit to Waitrose.

Officers have handed the incident to the Health and Safety Executive and an inquest will be held into Mr Buttery's death on November 17, 2020 at Worcestershire Coroner's Court.

Primafruit issued a statement on November 19, which said: "It is with great sadness that we confirm the death of a man on site at the Primafruit facility in Evesham this morning.

"An investigation by the police and the Health and Safety Executive has begun. We will, of course, do everything we can to help their enquiries.

"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the man’s family and friends."
