The worldwide Earth Hour event will see individuals, businesses and landmarks switch off their lights for one hour as a symbol of their support for the campaign, which aims to raise awareness of and tackle climate change.

Since it was launched in Sydney, Australia back in 2007, the number of Earth Hour participants has grown to 172 countries and territories. Earth Hour aims to save energy whilst putting the spotlight on various climate change issues facing the planet.

It also aims to inspire people around the world to live more sustainably.
