Leeds to get trendy new co-working space with its own rooftop bar and secret garden

A new co-working space aimed at entrepreneurs and freelancers is to open in Leeds city centre.

Avenue HQ, which already has a shared office site in Liverpool, will open on East Parade in late August.

It will provide work and social space for around 200 people - with 35 offices aimed at small business tenants.

A rooftop bar and restaurant, East Parade Social, is included in the development and it will be open to the general public, while there will also be a secret garden and a theatre.

Shared work spaces - where individuals rent a desk and have access to office and social facilities - are already popular in London and the sector is now growing in regional cities.

The £3million five-floor building will have community, meeting and event spaces to ensure tenants enjoy a work-life balance, a ground-floor cafe and several bars.

Matthew Kennedy, CEO of Avenue HQ said:

“Leeds is an exciting and vibrant city which has become the perfect base for growing businesses.

“We pride ourselves on being a community-driven business facilitating an informal business environment, where like-minded professionals, no matter what sector or size your business is, can work together.

“A recent survey of our Liverpool tenants revealed that 100 per cent would recommend Avenue HQ to another business, and we’re confident that our community-first approach will attract local businesses.”

Head of hospitality Leah Dottie added:

“Leeds is a vibrant and exhilarating city with a thriving, world-class independent food and drink scene, which we’re excited to become a part of.

“This particular area of the city, with its fantastic combination of business and social activities, has inspired our new business hub to include an eatery and multiple on-site bars.

“Our perceptions of work life balance have continued to evolve over the years, and our hospitality spaces aim to create an extension of your daily working environment; be it for your morning coffee on the way to the office, through to after work drinks with friends and client meetings. Working life simply isn’t just 9-5 anymore.

“We can’t wait to open our doors next month and invite tenants and guests to enjoy some of the best views in Leeds from our rooftop bar.”
