Independent businesses in Leeds have come up with a novel way to help raise their profile.

A new fundraising campaign has been launched by Independent Leeds, which promotes alternative and boutique firms across the city, to create the second volume of their Leeds Black Book.

The directory lists independent enterprises in the region. People are being urged donate £1 per book to the Kickstarter campaign and hope to emulate the success of their previous publication, which sold 21,000 copies.

They have also produced a free app called Leeds Radius that flags up independent stores in the city and provides directions to those places.
