Leeds floods a month on: Relief Appeal soars to £120,000

The Yorkshire Evening Post-backed Leeds Flood Relief Appeal has raised a staggering £120,000.

It has had a host of individual donations from kind-hearted Leeds people as well as support from companies such as Morrisons and Burberry.

A representative of the Freemasons of Yorkshire, West Riding who have also donated £10,000 to the appeal, said, “Charity provided support in our communities is at the very heart of the Freemasons and this donation, all of which has been raised locally, will go towards providing relief and support to those affected by the floods.”

The scheme will close for the first round of applications on Friday January 29. Priority will be given to households with people over 70, children under 5, and people with physical or learning disabilities or mental health needs.

Grants of up to £250 for individuals and £2,000 for charitable projects are available, although with the recent increase in donations, more money may be available for eligible applicants who require additional support.
