Leeds firefighters called out as fire begins in roof of supermarket and restaurant in Holbeck

Firefighters were called out last night when a blaze began in the roof void of a commercial building in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Fire Service said its crews had responded to reports of a fire at a supermarket and restaurant in Domestic Street, Holbeck, shortly before 8.30pm.

Three engines from Leeds and Hunslet stations were joined at the scene by an aerial appliance from Bradford.

A spokesman said the fire was found in the roof void of the single storey building, with around 10 per cent of the property affected.

Crews used a large jet, two hose reels, an aerial platform and breathing apparatus while tackling the fire.
