A north Leeds charity has a starring role in supermarket chain Co-op's new Christmas TV advert.

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm features in the advert, which tells the story of some of the local causes supported by the supermarket and its customers through its membership scheme.

The charity, which was set up in 1980, runs the 24-acre inner-city farm, community and environment centre. It provides a development programme for adults with learning disabilities, some of whom feature on the advert looking after the livestock.

They have received donations from Co-op members towards their projects, which also help young people.

The Glusburn Youth Theatre Group, from Craven in North Yorkshire, a volunteer lifeboat crew and a male voice choir also appear in the festive film, which was first broadcast last week.
