Leeds duo will be cooking up a storm with craft beers

HOME will collaborate with Northern Monk.

One is a fine-dining restaurant cooked up by a Masterchef runner-up and the other is a craft beer brewery which started in a basement.

But two of the city’s independents are teaming up for a food and beer pairing over a five-course meal.

HOME and Northern Monk Brew Co will create a tasting menu to complement the flavour of six beers in a two night take-over which has been extended due to the hunger for the event.

It will also see the first pour of Northern Monk Brew Co’s ‘HOME Brew’ Patrons Project, a collaboration beer brewed exclusively for the restaurant.

Russell Bisset, founder of Northern Monk said: “We started from humble beginnings, much has changed in the past four years.“One thing however has not; we have always had a deep-set desire to create some of the best beer experiences in the world. When we met with Home, it was clear a passion for creating the very best food and drink was something we shared.”

The event, which takes place on August 29 and 30, marks the first birthday of HOME and co-founder and head chef Liz Cottam said the venture was an experimental departure from what they normally do.

She said: “We put so much effort into pairing flights of wine to go with dishes on each month’s menu, so it was a really interesting experiment to work with Northern Monk to not only to build dishes around particular beers that inspired us, but create an entirely new beer from scratch, based around one of our best-loved dishes. We’re really excited to be pioneering pairing craft beer with high-end cooking.”
