For her legions of fans, it was all they wanted for Christmas. No, it’s not Fantasy - global mega star Mariah Carey is coming to Leeds.
Carey, whose 1994 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You sold over 1 million copies in the UK when it was first released and is the soundtrack to many a drunken Christmas party smooch, will bring her ‘Sweet Sweet Fantasy’ tour to the First Direct Arena on March 17.
Hot on the heels of a sell-out Las Vegas residency, Carey - the best-selling female artists of all time - will perform her biggest, career-defining hits, which include Fantasy, Hero, Vision of Love, One Sweet Day and We Belong Together.
Leeds’ is one of six UK dates, and the tour is the star’s first on this side of the Atlantic since the European leg of her Charmbracelet tour in 2003.
A statement from the singer said: “It’s been too long!! I’m so excited to be coming to Europe to perform for you all.
“I promise we’re going to share the most amazing moments together and I have so many surprises in store for you daahhlings! Can’t wait to see you all in your hometowns. Love Mariah xx”
Carey is the latest megastar to announced a Leeds date for 2016. Also heading for the arena next year are Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Manic Street Preachers, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, 5 Seconds of Summer, Slipnot and Ellie Goudling.
