A young dancer from Leeds will give the performance of a lifetime tonight as he shares a stage with X-Factor winner Sam Bailey on her UK tour.
Junior Frood, 10, from Meanwood, was invited by the singing star to join her as support act on her Manchester date which is at the city’s Bridgewater Hall tonight.
The pair first met at the Leeds Christmas light switch-on when Junior’s dancing skills caught her eye.
Proud mum Kerry said: “He met Sam backstage who he got talking to and who said he was an amazing dancer and had a great future ahead of him. Junior ended up pressing the button with Sam Bailey to switch on the Leeds Christmas Lights, which was the best night of his life. Then last week we got the shock of our lives when we received a private message on Junior’s Twitter account from Sam Bailey herself asking Junior if he would like to be her supporting act on her UK tour on her Manchester date in February.”
The news was confirmed to the world later when Sam Bailey tweeted: “@JuniorFrood very much honoured to be having you dance your socks off and support me at my Manchester leg of my UK tour xx”
Kerry said Junior was incredibly excited about his big gig.
“ I can honestly say this opportunity he has been given to dance for Sam Bailey on her tour is the most amazing opportunity ever. All Junior has ever wanted is to make his home city of Leeds proud of him,” she said.
Junior, a pupil at Carr Manor Primary School, was crowned also UK Freestyle Dance Champion 2014 in October last year.
He also got the chance to perform at Disneyland Paris in the main parade in 2014, where here he also came second in Compete in the Magic Open Entertainment category after several auditions.
