St George's Church would normally welcome hundreds of people to its contemporary carol service - a service of carols and pop songs led by a band.

Covid restrictions mean that cannot happen so the church has produced a short video called 'Christmas Hope' to share online.

A team of creative people from the church have produced a script accompanied by an original arrangement of Hark the Herald Angels sing, arranged by the church's worship pastor Dan Hebden.

Rev Ridgeway said: "We've got so many fantastic musicians and creative people in their twenties and thirties in our church, it was great to gather some of them and do something new this Christmas."

The video was filmed on location in Headingley and Leeds city centre, with the band filming in Leeds Minster.

Dan Hebden said: "The video has already been viewed more than 6,000 times on social media.

"People need to hear a message of hope and comfort this Christmas and we really believe our Christmas Hope video provides that."

St George's is looking forward to welcoming people to its Online Christmas Day Service at 10:30am.
