A POPULAR butchers in east Leeds has proved it’s top of the chops after being crowned the Best Butchers Shop in the North of England.

The shop on Austhorpe Road opened 29 years ago and makes up to 10,000 pork pies every week.

It is run by fifth-generation butchers John green and brother Andrew.

John said: “It’s great because it re-inforces our belief in the way that we see the shop and the direction we have gone in. It’s nice to be recognised by our peers and industry experts.”
