The eight volunteers, from the risk team, cleaned machinery, exhibits and out-houses on the farm. They were taking advantage of the society’s volunteering scheme, which allows all employees a day’s paid leave each year to help in the community.

Maria Akers, estates manager at Temple Newsam and Lotherton, said: “Our collection of historic farm machinery can prove quite a challenge when it comes to wielding the duster and mop so the staff were delighted to have such willing and cheerful volunteers.”
