A FULL emergency procedure was implemented at Leeds Bradford International Airport after an airliner reported a partial instrument failure after taking off from the airport.

The aircraft, which was being operated by Jet2 and thought to hold about 150 passengers and crew, returned and landed safely without problems.

One passenger, who asked not to be named, later said she understood that some instruments on the flightdeck had apparently malfunctioned, but the pilots had been able to land the plane safely using other instruments.

The emergency was flagged up at about 9.20am yesterday and police, fire and ambulance crews at the airport were on standby.
