FORMER BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles could return to the airwaves with a breakfast show on commercial radio.

Moyles, from Leeds, signed a “big money deal” with XFM on Wednesday, according to reports.

The self-designed “saviour of Radio 1” left the BBC in 2012 after eight years in the breakfast show slot, with listening figures peaking at 7.06 million. A new morning show, starting in September, would see Moyles competing for listeners with current Radio 1 breakfast show host and new X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw.

Rumours Moyles could take over the prime time slot at the commercial station originally surfaced in April.
