Leeds ‘body in the beck’: Tributes left at scene UPDATED

Have your say

Flowers and tributes have been left at the scene of a Leeds beck where the body of man was discovered.

Jonathan Sanderson, 31, was found in the water close to Pudsey Road, and the Wickes DIY store in Bramley, Leeds, early last Saturday.

Police initially sealed off the area but they are not treating his death as suspicious, though they have yet to confirm how he died.

Mr Sanderson was living in Leeds after moving to the area from Edinburgh.

Five bunches of flowers with four open, but full, cans of lager were left by well-wishers on a metal railing above Farnley Beck.

One message read: “You really are a legend now! You silly b****r. Love from Helen, Nina, William, Graham, Jon, Emma and Andrew.”

Another read: “Sando, such a legend! You will be missed greatly by all. Love Karen.”

A third said: “For Jon. Miss you loads, man. Make them all laugh up in heaven. Chris.”

The railings look down a steep fall of about 15 feet to the beck. It is understood Mr Sanderson was found near the water’s side.

Relatives of Mr Sandersonhave been informed of the tragedy. An inquest is due to be opened next week.
