When Vicki Psarias started blogging she never dreamed that it would become a full-time career that would lead her into the pages of Vogue and down the corridors of political power.
The Leeds mum-of-two is now one of the UK’s top parenting bloggers, with posts on her Honest Mum website attracting 80,000 visits a month.
She models for premium brands such as designer bag company Nova Harley – she features in May’s British Vogue – and recently turned muse for hair stylist George Northwood, whose clients include style icon Alexa Chung and supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
The 34-year-old, who was named Best Filmmaker in Channel 4’s 2007 Talent Awards for her short film Broken, said: “I didn’t set this up to found a business. Nobody could have predicted what was going to happen.
“I did it to find my voice (after becoming a mum) and basically it gave me my confidence back.”
Vicki, who lives in Leeds with husband Peter and their sons Oliver, five, and Alexander, two, said: “I earn much more now than I ever did as a film director and I’m so grateful to have a career I love, that works for my young family.”
The multi-talented mum, who also founded the successful Mummy’s Got Style blog and has almost 14,000 followers on Twitter, has won fans around the globe with her musings on motherhood. And such is her influence in the “blogosphere” she was invited to a recent reception hosted by childcare minister Sam Gyimah at London’s Lancaster House, to celebrate early years provision.
