A Leeds based beer firm is brewing up a special way to help retired racing greyhounds find new homes.

Whippet Brewery Co, is a Leeds-based cask ale brewer, which has teamed up with The Retired Greyhound Trust to launch a charity beer for hounds needing homes.

The brew will be called ‘Flying Start’ and is being launched on Saturday at The Retired Greyhound Trust’s ‘Great Greyhound Gathering’ in Warwickshire.

Whippet Brewing Co. is the brainchild of renowned beer writer Sam Parker, who set up the business back in 2014.

He said: ““With our name being Whippet Brewing Co. it made sense for us to link up with a dog-related charity, and we were very impressed with the work the RGT do countrywide.

“We hope that our partnership can help put a spotlight on their great network of volunteers and aid future fundraising activities.

“We’re really looking forward to the launch and we hope that it will gain us enough momentum to see the beer sold countrywide.”

The Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) is a national charity that re-homes 4,000 dogs each year but there are still hundreds more homeless.
