LEEDS based Jet2.com is celebrating being crowned Best Short Haul Airline for the third year running at the Travel Weekly Globe Awards 2014.

The glittering awards ceremony in London also saw Leeds Bradford Airport named as Best UK Airport.

The Travel Weekly Globe Awards are nominated and voted for by the travel agent community, giving recognition to the most deserving companies in the industry. The ceremony, at Grosvenor House, was hosted by TV personality James Corden.

Steve Heapy, of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, based at Leeds-Bradford Airport, said: “We are delighted to be named once again as Best Short Haul Airline and to be the only company to scoop this accolade three years in a row. This latest achievement follows an excellent year of growth for the company, and puts us in a fantastic position. Such industry recognition is also testament to the ongoing commitment of our staff who make it possible for our customers to travel to and from some of Europe’s finest destinations.

He was discovered unresponsive by his heartbroken mum Emma Oliver, 43, who had rushed upstairs when she heard a loud bang coming from his bedroom. Emma desperately tried to save him with CPR while a neighbour called 999, but Daniel was rushed to hospital where he was put on life support.
