Leeds arena is known for bagging headline acts but now the music venue is making headlines of its own.
The First Direct Arena has been ranked the fifth busiest in the UK.
The venue is also the 21st busiest in the world based on number of paying guests throughout 2014. The ranking of UK arenas, which was compiled by Global Music Magazine, now places Leeds just behind London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, with over 470,000 visitors in 2014.
Leeds also beat the Verizon Center in Washington DC, Liverpool’s Echo Arena and Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena, plus venues in Melbourne, Montreal, Boston and Vancouver.
Earlier this week the YEP reported that indie music legend Morrissey will perform at the First Direct Arena on Friday, March 20. Other artists visiting the arena over the next few months include Lionel Richie, The Black Keys, McBusted and Paloma Faith as well as Leeds’s own Kaiser Chiefs.
