Wow. Saturday evening saw Josh Warrington fighting for the European title at the Leeds First Direct Arena.

It’s fair to say I don’t think I’ve ever witness an atmosphere like it. Internally, we’ve always described ourselves as the mini-colluseum and the atmosphere and intensity on Saturday as Josh took to the ring was akin to a night of Gladitorial combat.

Monday saw the on sale for Premier League darts. When they last visited earlier in the year, it was a record attendance for a darts event and the noise, atmosphere and sport was something darts fans are still talking about.

We’re honoured to be opening the season here next February and the tickets are already flying out in their thousands.

We’ve also announced that X Factor, the Live Tour will be visiting us in March next year. This is always exciting as it means when you’re watching those live shows, you know you’ll get the chance to see those stars up close and personal in your home city some time soon. What a great week.

Betway Premier League Darts will be coming to the First Direct Arena to host first night of the championships following its triumphant visit to the venue in March.

Tickets for the Thursday February 5 show are on sale now.

The likes of Phil “The Power” Taylor and World Champion “Mighty” Michael van Gerwen were left in awe as a record 11,000 fans - the highest for any event in the history of the Professional Darts Corporation - attended the Premier League’s Leeds debut last time round.

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn admitted he was “super-impressed” by the First Direct Arena, while two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis described himself as “gobsmacked” by the response of the huge crowd.

Speaking ahead of the event, Barry said: “Our visit to the arena in March was a memorable occasion for all the players and also a historic night in the history of the PDC, and it seems fitting that we’ll begin next year’s Betway Premier League at such a wonderful venue.

“We had an amazing response from darts fans across the north who travelled to Leeds for what was a special night, and they were treated to some brilliant darts.

“It would be tremendous if we can open the 2015 with another record crowd.”
