It’s another big week for the Leeds First Direct Arena – to say we’ve had a busy start to the summer is an understatement.

Wednesday saw thousands of boxing fans pack into the venue to watch Leeds’ very own Josh Warrington fight in his home city. The venue lends itself well to boxing with it’s amphitheatre shape - it was great to have matchroom sport in the building and we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.

A lot of attention from our team has gone into preparing for the arrival of musical royalty, Prince.

A global megastar with a a sold out show, right in the heart of Leeds. It’s going to be nothing short of momentous.

We continue our theme of announcing “something for everyone” with two new dates since I last wrote.

WWE Live will be returning to the arena on November 9 and we’re delighted to be welcoming the iconic Culture Club to the arena with the original line up plus special guest Alison Moyet.

This weekend we will be hosting the Tour Makers as they prepare for the imminent Tour de France Grand Depart, taking place right here in Yorkshire.

It’s incredible to see how much time and effort is being put into this event, and this will definitely be expressed in the Team Presentation Ceremony, taking place right here at the arena. If you are a fan of cycling, or just want to immersed in the Tour atmosphere, the first direct arena will be the place to be on July 3.

I look forward to telling you all about the Prince gig next week- sure to be a historic moment for the Leeds music scene.

New wave sensations Culture Club have today announced that they will be coming to the first direct arena this Winter as part of their first UK tour in 15 years, with the original line up performing.

Joining them as a very special guest will be Yazoo member Alison Moyet.

Tickets for the Thursday 4 December show go on sale this Friday from 9.00am, priced from £38.50.

There is not a country in the world that doesn’t know the names of Boy George, Culture Club and their most well-known single Karma Chameleon.

Grammy Award winners Culture Club sold in excess of 100 million singles and over 50 million albums, and were one of the biggest pop bands of the 1980s.

They achieved seven straight Top 10 hits in the UK; Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, Time, I’ll Tumble 4 Ya, It’s A Miracle, Church of the Poison Mind, Karma Chameleon and Victims.
