A violent thug phoned his former partner and threatened to break her jaw a day after being released from prison.

A court heard the victim was left “petrified” and feared Dwayne Senior was going to killer her.

Senior, 34, made the threats on June 22 this year, a day after leaving prison on licence for an offence of assault.

Leeds Crown Court heard the woman had been in a four-month relationship with Senior which she ended after he threatened her with violence.

Clara Riordan, prosecuting, said the woman received a letter from the probation service on June 21 informing her that Senior had been released from jail with conditions not to make contact with her.

Senior then made 41 calls to the victim the next day. On one occasion she answered the phone and recognised Senior’s voice.

He told her: “You get me locked up again and I will snap your jaw, you bitch.”

On other occasion she answered the phone and Senior said: “Put you boyfriend on the phone and I will go to town on him.”

Police were contacted and Senior was stopped by two officers on Briggate, in Leeds city centre, at 7.55pm on June 25.

He was searched and found in possession of a knife. Senior then struggled with the officers as he was arrested.

Miss Riordan read out a victim impact statement to the court on behalf of the victim.

She said: “I knew that Dwayne would not stick to his release conditions and I am really scared that he will come and kill me.

“He has threatened before to break my jaw.

“It was a disgusting relationship. I do not feel safe in my own home when Dwayne is out of prison.

“I am prepared to go to court this time. People need to listen to me because I said this would happen.”

Senior, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to sending a malicious communication, possession of a blade in public and two offences of assaulting a police officer.

Senior was jailed for 18 months and made the subject of a restraining order.

Judge Mushtaq Khokhar said: “She was petrified of what you would do to her by inflicting violence upon her.”
