Knitted gifts for visitors to Leeds' Breast Cancer Haven Yorkshire

Visitors to Breast Cancer Haven Yorkshire in Leeds have been receiving knitted gifts, thanks to generous crafters from across the country.

Members of the craft community LoveKnitting supported Breast Cancer Haven’s annual Big Tea Cosy campaign by selling exclusive knitting and crochet patterns - with many customers who bought the patterns choosing to gift their finished woollen creations to someone going through breast cancer treatment as a sign of support.

With a choice of hats, blankets, hot water bottle covers and many more, the limited edition patterns were all specifically designed to provide comfort to those people going through breast cancer treatment. More than 60 individual knitted items were donated to Breast Cancer Haven centres across the country.

Breast Cancer Haven Yorkshire visitor Janet Drury, who received one of the knitted hot water bottles said: “I was delighted to receive such a lovely gift, made even more special because it was created in loving generosity to support Breast Cancer Haven visitors like me. I look forward to using it over the frosty winter months.”

Breast Cancer Haven is now inviting crafters to take part in next year’s Big Tea Cosy campaign in March 2019. Supporters can host their tea party or buy one of LoveKnitting’s patterns, with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Haven to help people going through one of the most difficult times of their lives.
