Kingstone Press Championship: Dewsbury and Featherstone soldier on despite being low on troops

Rams, who play host to Bradford in the Kingstone Press Championship, had only 11 players at training early in the week and two of those are on loan from Bulls and will not be allowed to play.

Coach Glenn Morrison said: “We are going to have some late fitness tests on Friday to see if we can get some back.

“Hopefully one or two will be available, but it’s not looking the best.”

Rovers make the long trip to Workington and boss Jon Sharp said: “The bonus is we didn’t pick up any injuries from a tough game against Halifax last week, but we won’t be getting anybody back. We are down to the bare bones.”

Sharp said Colton Roche could be available next weekend and Anthony Thackeray and Michael Channing in around two weeks’ time.

Batley Bulldogs will be without Alex Rowe (fractured thumb) for the trip to London Broncos. Coach John Kear said Shaun Squires is set to return from injury and Danny Cowling will be available if he passes a fitness test.

Hunslet Hawks visit Newcastle Thunder in League One. Boss Matt Bramald has a doubt over Chris Buttery (calf/back), but Michael Haley, Ben Crane and Danny Ansell are fit and Liam Mackay is close to a return.
