Kids enjoy Ugly Bug Ball at north Leeds visitor attraction

YOUNGSTERS were invited to an Ugly Bug Ball as new spider-themed play equipment was unveiled at popular tourist attraction between Leeds and Harrogate.

Stockeld Park, which is set within 2,000 acres of woodland and parkland, hosted a celebratory weekend of creepy crawlie fun to launch their new climbing attraction ‘The Spider’s Lair’.

To help celebrate the grand opening of the webbed wonder, visitors were invited to join in the festivities with fancy dress fun.

Children had the opportunity to dust off their butterfly wings, search out the antenna and get their best caterpillar crawl on, to dress up as their favourite bug and enter the mini beast catwalk competition.

Families visiting the Ugly Bug Ball enjoyed live music, mystery guests, bug grub contests, the Ugly Bug roller disco and took part in fun races and games on the main field.

And real life creepy creatures including spiders, snakes and amazing bugs, could be seen courtesy of the park’s Reptile Rangers.

Stockeld Park is also launching the new ‘Buccaneer Boats’ – a thrilling attraction on the Enchanted Forest lake.

Watch out for the new Mermaid who watches over you as you bob about in the water, don’t forget to make a wish if you catch her looking at you.

Visitors may also spot the new crocodile lurking in the lake.

Daily adventures are on offer at Stockeld Park over school summer holidays in the grounds at Stockeld Park and the play areas in the interactive Enchanted Forest.

Kids can head to the retro roller rink, slide down the inflatable slide, bounce on the giant pillow, whizz along the electric scooter trail or if pedal power is their thing they can test their skills on the go kart track.

Stockeld Park is open daily from 10am to 6pm throughout August.
