Kaiser Chiefs reving up to play racing circuit

LEeds band Kaiser Chiefs have been announced as the band who will kick off this year’s Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix.

The announcement, made by Silverstone Circuits Ltd yesterday, will see the band play a gig on Thursday July 3 before the big event.

The performance, overlooking the famous circuit, will form part of the three-time Brit Award winning group’s UK summer tour. Tickets went on pre-sale yesterday although were initially only available exclusively to existing British Grand Prix ticket holders or fans who book F1 passes.

Richard Phillips, Silverstone’s Managing Director, commented: “We are delighted to announce that Kaiser Chiefs will be playing on the eve of the British Grand Prix weekend and believe they will be a very popular addition to the event.

“Over the years the British Grand Prix has become so much more than just a race on the Sunday.

“Fans now come for the entire weekend and make the most of the entertainment that we have on offer. Customer feedback tells us that the fans thoroughly enjoy the concerts we hold over the course of the Grand Prix event, and Kaiser Chiefs will be equally well received and a great way to start the weekend.”
