A TEAM of soapbox racers from west Leeds are set to compete at a high-profile event in London this Sunday.

The ‘Deeply Dippy’ team of racers spent 12 weeks building a dinosaur-themed soapbox as a tribute to ‘Dippy’ the Diplodocus, which is set to be retired from the National History Museum in London

They will race the hand made machine at the Red Bull Soapbox Race Champions event at London’s Alexandra Palace.

Jonny Heath of Farsley and his brother Tim, Keith Perigo of Rodley and Andrew West of Pudsey, have been racing soapboxes at events around the country since they competed in first Red Bull Soapbox Race at Roundhay Park in Leeds in 2001.
