Josh has been named as the new president of the Leeds United Supporters’ Club, a role filled in the past by Whites legends such as Eddie Gray and Gary Kelly.

The announcement comes ahead of the boxer’s IBF featherweight world title fight against Lee Selby at United’s Elland Road ground on May 19.

Leeds United Supporters’ Club said it was “proud and honoured” that he had agreed to take on the role, adding: “We look forward to a long and happy relationship.”

Josh has consistently flown the flag for United during his boxing career, with ring-walk duties at his previous bouts being handled by the likes of Vinnie Jones, Dominic Matteo and Gaetano Berardi.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post about his love for Leeds in 2015, he said: “We’re a one football team city and I think that sets us apart from places like Liverpool or Manchester or Sheffield.”

The YEP has five pairs of tickets to give away to Josh Warrington’s fight at Elland Road next month.
