UP to 50 jobs are set to be created after Aldi won planning permission to build a new ‘eco’ store on land off Bradford Road at Guiseley.
Work on the new 1,254 sq mt store, which is planned between the BP petrol station and the Wetherby Whaler, is scheduled to start in spring and end in autumn.
Mark Taylor, property Director for Aldi, said: “The new Aldi store will incorporate sustainable materials and the latest green initiatives.
“A green roof and solar panels are proposed supporting out ethos towards helping the environment’.
“The Guiseley store will also use a heat recovery system whereby heat recovered from the refrigeration system is recycled to heat the store via underfloor heating, reducing the need for any gas use.
“The store will also be fitted with the latest energy saving lighting both inside and outside in the car park.
Councillor Pat Latty, (Guiseley and Rawdon/Conservative), said: “The community is looking forward to this store opening.”
