A man assaulted his partner after believing he had seen her kiss another man following a Christmas party,
Peter Yousseff, 43, slapped his partner Sarah Johnson and grabbed her by the hair during the incident on December 20, Wakefield and Pontefract Magistrates’ Court heard. Miss Johnson called police saying Yousseff had assaulted her and officers went to the address on Abbey Walk at Pontefract.
Police noticed swelling and reddening to Miss Johnson’s face. Prosecutor, Karen Medley said: “The defendant accepted that there had been an argument between them. The complainant had been out on a Christmas works night out.
“She had come home and he had seen her outside with an unknown male. He became angry and assaulted her by slapping her. He got hold of her and pulled her hair. She said the relationship is now over and she doesn’t wish to see him again.”
Yousseff, formerly of Abbey Walk, Pontefract, but now of Crowther Close, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, admitted assault.
Mitigating, Nigel Taylor said: “He was at home during the evening when she returned. He became aware she was outside and saw her standing with another man. He wasn’t sure what was happening. From what he could see he thought they were kissing.” Magistrates fined Yousseff £240 and ordered him to pay £85 costs. An indefinite restraining order was issued, banning Yousseff from contacting Miss Johnson.
