An adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre will run for a week at Leeds Grand Theatre from July 31.

Director Sally Cookson said: ”Adapting a novel for the stage is challenging - especially when that novel is cited as many people’s favourite of all time. You want to surprise and challenge people’s expectations without losing any of the things which make them like the story in the first place.”

The show, a collaboration between the National Theatre and Bristol Old Vic, stars Nadia Clifford as Jane Eyre and Tim Delap as Rochester.

The UK-wide tour runs until September finishing in Hull as part of the City of Culture programme.
