A MAN who carried out a secret sexual affair with a 14-year-old schoolgirl before dumping her when she fell pregnant has been jailed.

Lee Terry, 33, was given a nine-year sentence yesterday after pleading guilty to seven offences of sexual activity with a child and an attempted sexual offence.

Leeds Crown Court heard the father-of-two contacted the youngster via text message in July last year and she visited him at his flat.

The girl turned up at his home in her school uniform and sexual contact took place on the first occasion they met.

Terry, of Gamble Hill Croft, Bramley, saw the girl between 20 and 30 times over the next three months and they regularly had sex.

Nicholas Askins, prosecuting, said Terry was “utterly unsupportive” when the girl became pregnant and ended the relationship.

Mr Askins said: “She believed at the time that the two of them were in a relationship, although her description of that relationship was of the defendant being moody, demanding and controlling.”

The girl had the pregnancy terminated after being left to deal with the situation alone.

She told her mother about the relationship with Terry because of the sense of shame she felt.

Allan Armbrister, mitigating, said the offending began at a time when Terry’s relationship with his wife had broken down and he was abusing alcohol.

Judge Sally Cahill told Terry he must serve a six year prison sentence and an extended three-year period on licence upon his release from jail.

The judge said: “She was an extremely vulnerable young girl. She was entitled, from a man of your age, to be protected not abused.

“She became pregnant and she had the painful decision to make about what to do thereafter.

“It is clear that it has had a substantial impact.

“It is clear that your treatment of the victim shows a clear disregard for her.”
