TWO brothers who were caught red-handed after stealing around £10,000 worth of equipment from a hairdressing salon have been jailed.
Ryan and Jamie Seminiuk were spotted as they loaded bags of stolen property into the boot of a car after breaking into the Scissor Sisters salon in Meanwood, Leeds.
Leeds Crown Court heard a member of the public contacted police after seeing them behaving suspiciously on August 18 this year.
Officers stopped the vehicle a short time later after hearing that the salon had been broken into 15 minutes earlier.
David Lampitt, prosecuting, said the shutters to the front of the premises had been forced and the alarm had been deactivated.
Jamie, 28, initially claimed he had bought the items minutes before being stopped by police.
The Semeniuks, of Copperfield Crescent, Richmond Hill, Leeds, pleaded guilty to burglary.
The court heard they both have previous convictions for burglary.
Adrian Pollard, mitigating, said both men had pleaded guilty to the offence at the earliest opportunity. He added that all the stolen equipment was returned to the owner of the business.
Mr Pollard said they had both come from difficult backgrounds and had spent much of their youth and adult lives in custody.
He said the brothers accepted that another prison sentence was inevitable.
Recorder Mark McKone jailed them both for two years.
He told the brothers: “You obviously know right from wrong and you know that you go to prison when you get caught for burglary.”
