Issho: Flagship Leeds restaurant opens up

After months of anticipation, Leeds’ newest rooftop restaurant, Issho, was unveiled to the public for the first time with an exclusive and extravagant launch party.

Guests including soap stars and tv personalities, business representatives from across the city, foodies and dignitaries from the city council enjoyed free-flowing champagne and Japanese food cooked on the robata grill, as well as maki, sushi, bao buns while taking in views of the city skyline from the outdoor roof terrace.

Mike Parr who plays Ross Barton posed for pictures as did weather girl Keeley Donovan.

The venture is the third in Leeds from the London based group D&D Restaurants which also has Angelica and Crafthouse.

Des Gunewardena, London’s Chairman and chief executive said: “Leeds has a thriving culinary scene and Issho’s sister venues Angelica and Crafthouse have seen incredible success here so we’re thrilled to be adding another fantastic restaurant to the city.”

The bar and restaurant can cater for 230 people serving up 62 items on the food menu and 21 different types of Japanese sake. The venture, which has become the flagship restaurant for the Victoria Gate centre, has also created 80 jobs
