Is this the oldest footage of Leeds in the world?

The video shows Leeds City Square in 1898, a full 119 years ago.

At that time, the Yorkshire Evening Post was just eight years old, having been founded in 1890.

Indeed, this footage is 21 years older than Leeds United FC, which began after the First World War in 1919!

The footage shows the old tramways of Leeds in what was then the city centre square, now a set of roads and traffic lights.
