Around 10,000 people from all over the world flocked to its marquees in Millennium Square, Cookridge Street and in front of Leeds Town Hall.

Attractions included a panel event with Gerard Way, the former singer with My Chemical Romance and now the curator of the Young Animal line of comics.

Festival manager Martha Julian said: “It has gone better than we ever could have imagined. The city has been thronged with people in colourful costumes, laughing and singing – the atmosphere has been amazing.”
