An investigation has been launched after a woman died following a fall from the top floor of Pinderfields Hospital main building.

It happened at around 12.30am this morning, Thursday, June 14, hours after she had been admitted to hospital.

David Melia, director of nursing at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust said: “Accident and emergency crews attended, but sadly she died a short time later. She received all the care that she could.

“Her next of kin have been informed.

“It’s very very sad. We are supporting our own staff who witnessed the incident and who are obviously very distressed.

“We are now conducting our own internal investigation.”
