Ian Hanlon loves his job so much that he has never taken a single day off sick in the last 50 YEARS.
The production manager for a Yeadon based electronics company started his career with the business when he was just 15.
And now 50 years later he has been presented with an award for never taking a day off sick during his career.
Ian told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I feel good.
“I am really proud that I’ve reached the milestone particularly in the last few years since my wife has been sick.
“There’s enough that keeps your mind active and your brain motivated which obviously helps.
“I’m just lucky that I enjoy my job.”
Ian began his career working for William Don Limited and following a group reorganisation he transferred to Wheat Electronics in 1984 as the only electronics production staff member.
The electronics company later became known as the DonElec Group.
David Wheat, managing director for Don Electronics, said: “Ian has been with us all these years which I think is a tremendous achievement because I don’t think it happens that often anymore.
“It’s an extremely rare occurrence that an employee stays with one company for as long as Ian has.
“He’s worked with three generations of my family. He’s always been here and he’s played a key role in helping the business grow.
“We are all extremely proud of him and very grateful that he’s been willing to put in the time and effort.”
