Hunt for Harrogate flasher

Dectectives hunting a pervert believed to have repeatedly exposed himself to women in Harrogate have issued an e-fit picture of a suspect.

The "flasher", who seems to strike after sunset, is believed to have exposed himself on at least three occasions in the Stray Rein area of the town in the last month.

In the latest incident on New Year's Eve a 17-year-old girl was approached by a man near the railway bridge on Harrogate Stray at about 5.15pm.

The stranger was carrying some clothing under his arm, but as he neared the teenager he dropped his trousers, indecently exposing himself.

He was aged about 40, 6ft tall and of large build with dark hair. He may have been wearing a hat.

Thirteen days earlier, on Saturday December 18, two women were walking along a public footpath connecting York Place with Tewit Well Road at about 5.45pm when they saw a man standing by a tree, just past a nearby railway bridge.

The man was naked and had his jeans around his ankles. He was described as white, in his early to mid 20s and about 6ft 3in tall, of larger than average build with dark brown hair worn in a pudding-bowl shape.

He had a round face with a pale complexion and dark eyes. His upper body appeared to be hairless.

Another incident – also 13 days earlier on Sunday December 5 – is also being investigated.

In that incident a 34-year-old local woman walking in the Stray Rein area was approached by a man wearing only a pair of white trainers. His clothing was on the ground nearby. She made her way home and reported the matter to police.

The man was around 6ft 4in tall and of medium build with blond hair.

The E-fit is a likeness of the man who exposed himself on December 18.

Anyone with information should contact PC Lynsey Ridout, of Harrogate Police, on 0845 6060247 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
