Human remains have been found close to a nature reserve.

Police were called to the Washlands Nature Reserve, close to Welbeck Lane, behind Eastmoor at about 9.55am on Wednesday, after a member of the public reported finding a number of small bones.

Enquiries have been ongoing today at the scene and, following detailed examination, it is now thought the bones are human remains.

A full post mortem will take place this evening and enquiries remain ongoing.
