Rouse Homes has lodged an application with Leeds City Council for what was the Merry Monk pub site at Kirkstall Hill.

The two bedroomed red brick houses will be built in three blocks of four over two storeys with parking spaces and private gardens included and will be known as Eden Court.

A spokesperson for Rouse said: “The proposed development will have a positive impact on local people. The site is unattractive at present and is unsightly.

“The development will be a sustainable use and will be maintained for the forseeable future with quality housing and amenity areas.”

The previous pub owner had the building demolished and there is a history of planning permission for residential on the site.

Rouse Homes added that the homes will help in an area of high demand but low supply.
