Housebuilder's support to 'inclusive' riding centre

A housebuilder has made a cash donation to a Leeds equestrian centre that works with people who have disabilities, as part of its commitment to helping communities.

Barratt Developments Yorkshire West donated £500 to Middleton Park Equestrian Centre, to help with the upkeep of the horses, allowing the centre to continue its great work providing riding experiences for people with disabilities.

The centre’s aim is to introduce and provide a fun, sporting activity, and the potential of career opportunities to local people, on behalf of the Riding for the Disabled Association.

Carriage Driving sessions are available for severely disabled clients, such as wheelchair users, who find it difficult to access any other services. But the centre relies on donations from local businesses and the community to fund its fantastic work.

Martin Purdy, Commercial Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: “We’re always looking for ways we can support the communities in which we build, and we’re keen to contribute to organisations which are dedicated to improving the lives of people in our region.

"Middleton Equestrian Centre gives local people with disabilities the chance to experience the joy of being around horses and riding, something that they may not have been able to do otherwise. We’re delighted to be able to help such a fantastic local organisation with our donation.”

Anna Burke, manager at Middleton Equestrian Centre, said: “We’re so grateful to Barratt Developments Yorkshire West for their kind donation. Running a centre like this is extremely rewarding but relies on the generosity of others, so any business that is willing to help us to give others an unforgettable experience is just fantastic.

"We’re extremely proud of the work we do and this donation will help ensure we can continue to deliver unforgettable experiences with the wonderful horses here to people in the area with disabilities.”
