Hospitals' charity Leeds Cares in plea to Yorkshire businesses to back fundraising campaign #ThankfulThursdays

Leeds Cares has teamed up with donation platform Work for Good to launch its new corporate partnerships campaign called #ThankfulThursdays.

#ThankfulThursdays gives local businesses the chance to help Leeds hospitals by donating a percentage of their sales on any Thursday in 2020 to help the charity raise £100,000.

Businesses can decide how much they want to donate and for how long - whether it’s a £50 one-off payment or a regular donation each week.

Park Lane Foundation are one of the first Yorkshire-based businesses to announce their involvement with #ThankfulThursdays by donating a percentage of their sales.

Hanif Malik OBE, director at Park Lane Foundation said: "The past few months has severely affected our business, but we remain positive and look forward to the future. And this is one way we can help.”

“The NHS is a national institution and we have helped where we can during the Coronavirus outbreak.

"We’ve supplied over 700 meals for NHS workers and provided rooms for those who are staying away from their families, but we wanted to do more. We loved the idea of #ThankfulThursdays and we wanted to be one of the first to join”.

“The impact of Covid-19 on staff, patients and even Leeds Cares will be around for a long time, and we should all be involved to help make a difference to our charities and NHS who give so much.

"Personally, and as a business leader, I hope that the positives of caring and togetherness we’ve gained during the pandemic will not be lost once things go back to normal.

"It is essential we keep the good will going, and that is why I would say to any business considering supporting Leeds Cares it is absolutely worth it.”

A Leeds Cares spokeswoman, said: "During the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen first-hand the generous contributions that have been provided to those most in need.

"Over the past three months it has helped to fund items over and above what the NHS can’t always fund, and it’s those extras that have a huge impact.

"Every penny donated to Leeds Cares helps to support the hardworking staff at our hospitals and enhance the experience of patients and their families."
